THE CHALLENGE
As a Warehouse & Logistics Technician at Onward Energy, you will serve as the operational backbone of our parts, tools, and material flow supporting utility-scale solar operations. This role blends hands-on warehouse execution with logistics coordination and active participation in inventory strategy.
You will ensure accurate inventory, rapid material deployment, compliant test equipment, and field readiness — directly reducing downtime, technician travel, emergency freight, and outage duration.
This role is a process owner and operational leader for warehouse execution and inventory effectiveness.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse Operations & Receiving
- Ensure reliable on-site receiving of all inbound shipments
- Verify quantities, inspect for damage, and properly log materials into inventory systems
- Prevent lost, misdelivered, or unattended drop-offs
Maintain organized, clearly labeled, and accessible warehouse layout
Inventory Management & Strategy Execution
- Conduct routine cycle counts and physical audits to maintain high inventory accuracy
- Maintain min/max reorder thresholds and critical spare availability
- Partner with Operations, Asset Management, and Procurement to execute agreed inventory strategy
- Provide feedback on consumption trends, vendor performance, failures, and changing spare needs
- Reduce shrinkage, stockouts, and emergency procurement
Field Logistics & Technician Support
- Deliver parts, tools, and test equipment to sites as needed to reduce technician travel time
- Stage materials and kits for outages, PMs, and major corrective work
- Assist with loading/unloading during high-activity periods
- Improve turnaround time from delivery to deployment
Test Equipment & Calibration Management
- Track calibration schedules for all test equipment
- Coordinate calibrations and compliance documentation
- Ensure expired or non-compliant tools are removed from service
- Prevent audit findings and operational delays
Fleet & Vehicle Readiness
- Perform periodic vehicle inspections for tools, safety equipment, and consumables
- Maintain fleet readiness for rapid deployment
- Track required documentation and compliance items
- Perform basic upkeep such as refueling and visual inspections
Warehouse Safety & Compliance
- Maintain clean, safe, and compliant warehouse environment
- Conduct routine safety inspections
- Ensure OSHA and company safety standards are met
- Improve material accessibility and workflow efficiency
Cost Control & Process Improvement
- Reduce emergency shipments and rush freight
- Minimize technician overtime related to parts retrieval
- Improve asset tracking to lower replacement costs
- Identify and implement logistics and inventory process improvements
THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED
Required:
- 3+ years in warehouse operations, logistics, inventory control, or field support
- Strong hands-on experience with receiving, staging, and inventory systems
- High attention to detail and accountability for accuracy
- Comfortable working independently and owning processes
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to sites
Preferred:
- Experience in utilities, renewable energy, industrial maintenance, or construction environments
- Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems
- Experience managing calibrated test equipment
- Forklift or material handling certifications (or willingness to obtain)

The position functions in a smoke and vape-free professional office environment. The role routinely utilizes Warehouse Management Systems, Barcode and RFID Technology, and ERP systems.
