Warehouse Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ship/Receiving Warehouse Clerk coordinates daily shipping and receiving activities while performing hands-on warehouse tasks to ensure accurate, on-time movement of materials and finished goods. This role provides work direction, supports training, and reinforces safety and quality standards across the warehouse team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinate daily shipping/receiving workflow: prioritize tasks, communicate status, and support schedule adherence.
• Process and verify shipping/receiving documentation (packing slips, BOLs, delivery receipts) and ensure accurate system transactions (ERP/WMS).
• Lead picking, staging, packing, labeling, and loading activities; verify item/quantity accuracy and packaging requirements prior to shipment.
• Receive inbound materials: inspect condition, verify counts, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues to the Shipping Manager as needed.
• Support inventory control activities including cycle counts, location accuracy, and discrepancy investigations.
• Operate material-handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) safely and ensure dock/warehouse areas remain organized and efficient.
• Assist with training and onboarding of new/temporary employees; reinforce PPE, safety procedures, and quality expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of shipping/receiving and warehouse experience; prior lead or trainer experience preferred.
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days) and demonstrated safe equipment operation.
• Working knowledge of shipping documentation and carrier processes; experience with LTL/parcel shipments preferred.
• Proficiency with computers/scanners and accurate recordkeeping; ERP/WMS experience a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Ability to lift/push/pull materials as required and work in a fast-paced, production environment.
