Shipping Operator - Dry

This new asset class supports nature protection and provides sustainable financial returns.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>General Area of Responsibility</u></strong></p><p>A Shipping Operator is an intermediary between various departments in the Company and external stakeholders such as Ship Owners, Vessels, Port Agents, 3rd party Charterers etc. The role of a Shipping Operator is to ensure flawless, safe and efficient transportation of the goods (especially dry cargo) on the Ships chartered in or, in case of Ships’ employment with 3rd parties – chartered out, provide in-house support and expertise on the shipping related matters.</p><p>In addition to the physical side of the operations, as part of their day-to-day duties, the Shipping Operator (Dry) is also responsible for maintaining accurate representation of the transportation arrangements and respective costs within the shipping software and ensure proper operation of TC vessels and increase performance, following global standards and international regulations at all times.</p><p><strong><u>Specific Areas of Responsibility</u></strong></p><p>Candidates may expect following non-exhaustive list of tasks:</p><ul><li>Assist chartering in obtaining the port restrictions and costs; screen Vessels with the Terminals/Ports.</li><li>Guide Chartering and Trading on the cargo holds/fuel tanks cleaning procedures and potential contamination risks.</li><li>Screen the Vessels in accordance with Mercuria vetting criteria.</li><li>Ensure smooth management of ongoing operations, including pre- and post-fixture activities</li><li>Communication and coordinate with other departments in order to ensure the optimal vessel operations</li><li>Issue the voyage instructions to the Vessels.</li><li>Elaborate the stowage plans, to accommodate trading arrangements and propose most efficient solutions.</li><li>Optimize Vessels’ routing depending on the speed/consumption curves, weather, arrival deadlines etc.</li><li>Monitor vessel performance throughout all voyages, including speed and consumption analysis</li><li>Arrange bunkering of the time-chartered fleet.</li><li>Optimize bunkers calculations.</li><li>Handle vessel questionnaires, certificates, Negotiate LOI wordings, participate in elaboration of the c/p clauses.</li><li>Update IMOS, maintain accountability for the P&L; expect to participate in system development and interface with ETRM.</li><li>Provide feedback on the estimates vs actual voyage costs, optimization proposals.</li><li>Ensure compliance with Global Regulatory Requirements</li></ul><p><strong><u>Required Skills/Competencies</u></strong></p><ul><li>A minimum of 4 years related shipping experience dealing with dry cargo.</li><li>Dry bulk and shipments operations experience is required (bulk coal, clinker, iron ore, bauxite, grains).</li><li>Experience in metals cargoes and geared bulk vessels is essential (nickel ore, aluminum sows and ingots, concentrates)</li><li>An entrepreneurial minded, hardworking and structured team player.</li><li>Sailing experience would be an asset but not mandatory (ideally combined with a shore experience in a trading or shipping company).</li><li>Some legal background or exposure to claims under the voyage/time-charter parties.</li><li>IT literate. Experience with the IMOS shipping system is an advantage but not mandatory.</li><li>Familiarity with standard c/p forms (e.g. Gencon / Amwelsh , NYPE etc.) and Bimco clauses</li><li>Fluent in English, both oral and written.</li></ul><p></p>
