Senior Policy Analyst/Research Officer

In this position, you will use your creativity and curiosity to research, analyze and develop recommendations.</p><p><br></p><p>The Environmental Assessment and Stewardship Branch provides regulatory and operational management of the environmental assessment and waste stewardship and recycling programs. It also coordinates the implementation of the Saskatchewan Solid Waste Management Strategy. In addition to this, the branch provides policy development support for the Environmental Protection Division.</p><p><br></p><p>Reporting to the Manager of Waste Stewardship and Recycling, you will have the opportunity to:</p><ul><li>Provide policy support (research, quantitative/qualitative analysis) for Waste Stewardship and Recycling and other areas of the Environmental Protection Division;</li><li>Engage with a wide variety of stakeholders in the waste management and environmental protection fields and negotiate with various groups for the development of policy and position papers;</li><li>Lead and support the review and evaluation of programs and regulations;</li><li>Plan and lead regulatory and policy development projects and be responsible to draft new or amend existing guidance documents, policies, regulations, protocols, and bulletins; and</li><li>Communicate complex regulatory concepts in simple language to various audiences and stakeholders.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the public policy development process, program planning, research and evaluation techniques. You will have a broad knowledge of relevant acts and programs, government planning and decision-making processes and stakeholders in the area of solid waste management and environmental protection. You will have demonstrated written communication skills and be responsible for making recommendations and decisions to amend existing, or facilitate the development and drafting of new programs, policies, procedures, guidelines, contracts, legislation and regulations. You will demonstrate an understanding of the role of a public servant in executing government directed policy.</p><p><br></p><p>Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position would be acquired through a graduate degree in public administration, public policy, environmental sciences or related discipline, supplemented with related experience.</p><p><br></p><p>We are committed to workplace diversity.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Hours of Work:</strong> A - SGEU Office 36 - one day off every two weeks</p><p><strong>Number of Openings:</strong> 1</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Closing Date</strong>: Mar 22, 2026, 11:59:00 PM</p>
