Senior Engineer, Systems Planning – Transmission
Job Description:
- Independently develop and maintain the system models for transmission studies including collection, review and/or modification of a variety of electric system parameters: equipment ratings, impedances, contingency sets, protection and control parameters, as well as system topology.
- Conducts adequacy assessments and develops options to meet delivery objectives with latitude for independent action and decision making.
- Identifies key technical issues and develops solutions.
- Represents the department and the company on various industry related committees.
- Plans, develops and collaborates in the implementation and management of the life cycle plan for transmission assets.
- Communicates clearly and effectively verbally and in writing the results of analyses and action plan.
- Trains junior staff in technical analyses and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical preferred
- 5+ plus years of directly related experience
- Experience with power system transmission analysis tools such as PSSE, TARA, ASPEN, PSCAD, or other similar analysis software
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python
- Knowledge of new technologies including but not limited to photovoltaic solar, electric vehicles, and battery
- Knowledge of electrical theory as applied to planning an electric power supply system.
- Knowledge of National, State and other planning standards and reliability criteria.
