RN Med Surg | Charleston, South Carolina

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years MS RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.


An opportunity is available for a knowledgeable Registered Nurse to join a float pool team serving med-surg floors across multiple hospital locations. This contract position involves providing comprehensive nursing care during night shifts, contributing to an effective patient care environment in a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching facility.

Location:

Schedule:

  • 3 nights per week
  • 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend coverage is required every other weekend
  • Participation in holiday rotations required

Responsibilities:

  • Float between medical-surgical units at the main hospital and Ashley River tower
  • Deliver direct patient care while managing variable patient-to-nurse ratios based on unit assignments
  • Utilize EPIC electronic health records for documentation
  • Adhere to hospital policies including uniform and parking regulations

Qualifications:

  • Current South Carolina or Compact State RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; first-time float pool nurses are welcome
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Capability to work night shifts and float to different units as assigned
  • Manager approval required for block scheduling requests

Additional Details:

  • Hospital staffed with 820 beds, recognized for trauma care and magnet status
  • Parking permit available for a nominal registration fee with access to on-site garage
  • During hurricane season (June - November), staff may be called to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting assignments
