RN - Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE)
The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) delivers compassionate, trauma-informed, and timely care to individuals affected by violence, whether intentional or accidental. This role requires a non-judgmental approach and a commitment to patient-centered care. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform nursing acts within the scope defined by licensing boards. * Demonstrate skills and knowledge aligned with unit competencies, policies, and procedures. * Assess patient needs accurately and develop, implement, review, and maintain comprehensive care plans. * Provide care to patients ranging from newborns to the elderly to achieve desired outcomes. * Conduct quality assurance activities including maintaining chain of evidence, proper documentation, referrals, report preparation and interpretation, and compliance with mandatory reporting. * Educate patients and families on physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects of examinations and treatments. * Coordinate preparation of documents, testimony, and case facts as needed. * Complete timely and accurate documentation following organizational policies. * Meet scheduling requirements including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties. * Adhere to privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI). * Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with patients, families, team members, physicians, outside agencies, and the public. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Graduate of an accredited RN program. * Completion of a 64-hour course or two 40-hour IAFN SANE training courses within six months of hire. * At least one year of acute care experience. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS * Current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation. * Current ACLS and PALS certifications within six months of hire. * Registered Nurse credential from a compact state or relevant nursing board. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). * SANE-A and SANE-P certifications. SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Basic computer proficiency. * Strong multitasking and prioritization skills. * Effective communication with sensitivity to cultural, educational, and age diversity. * Ability to remain calm under stress. * Compassionate and empathetic patient care approach. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Medium work involving occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and frequent lifting up to 10 lbs. Standing or walking may be required 26-50% of the time.
