[Remote] Video Editor, Cocoa Butter (Project-Based)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. BuzzFeed, Inc. is a leading digital media company dedicated to providing quality, brand-safe news and entertainment. They are seeking a skilled Video Editor to create engaging video content for their Cocoa Butter Channel, focusing on celebrating Black culture through relatable storytelling.


Responsibilities

  • Edit compelling, long-form and short-form digital videos, focusing on narrative structure
  • Be able to accommodate quick edit timelines
  • Incorporate graphics, music, and effects to enhance storytelling and engagement
  • Collaborate with producers to maintain the channel’s signature style and cultural relevance
  • Implement edit feedback quickly and provide updated cuts using creative solutions
  • Experiment with different edit versions as needed
  • Provide additional asset creation when necessary including adaptations, cutdowns, thumbnails, etc
  • Maintain project and edit organization according to internal SOPs
  • Implement appropriate Color Grading and Sound Mixing

Skills

  • 3-5 years of video editing experience, preferably with lifestyle or culturally-focused content
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and related software
  • Strong understanding of storytelling techniques and audience engagement strategies
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality
  • Passion for Black culture and culinary content is a plus!
