[Remote] OFCI Cost Engineer

The OFCI Cost Engineer will be responsible for estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements, ensuring effective cost control and providing innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.


Responsibilities

  • Performs generally non-routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities
  • Coordinates the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports
  • Coordinates the development and accuracy of cost reports
  • Verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency
  • Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures
  • Investigates the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data
  • Collects and classifies cost data
  • Performs budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
  • Identifies cost trends for management attention
  • Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons

Skills

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in directing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis, in the field and the home office
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems driven by data
  • Strong knowledge of Bechtel's financial reporting systems, controller account codes, and cost management system (Ecosys)
  • Must be able to independently provide guidance, training and coaching to junior Cost Engineers with multiple backgrounds and experience
  • Must have excellent communications and presentation skills to combine sound analytical cost engineering principles with the ability to summarize, reach appropriate conclusions, and implement cost containment plans
  • Demonstrated flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities
  • Preferred experience in Data Center EPC
