PFD Assistant

Job Summary: To prepare deli items to maintain fully-stocked, attractive displays and provide prompt, friendly and helpful customer service. To perform a variety of tasks essential to the successful operation of a Prepared Foods Department.

  • This position may require standing on concrete floors for up to 8 hours/day.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Current Oregon Food Handlers Certificate.

Food Preparation:

  • Follow all food safety rules when preparing deli offerings.
  • Prepare deli offerings following specifications of the Prepared Foods Manager.
  • Prepare food in accordance with the Department of Agriculture standards.
  • Inform other employees about ingredients used and prep tasks needed.

Product Handling:

  • Ensure that full and attractive displays are maintained.
  • Rotate and face product to ensure freshness and visibility.
  • Ensure that shelf signage is accurate, current, complete and placed correctly according to department procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and sanitary product processing, packaging and pricing according to department procedures, Organic Handling and Department of Agriculture regulations.

Customer Experience:

  • Greet and interact with customers in a friendly way that shows you appreciate their patronage.
  • Ensure that customers are attended to with a high level of service and professionalism.
  • Offer help without being asked and be alert to customer's needs.
  • Be familiar with Co-op policies and products in order to answer customer questions in a prompt and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
