Food Service Worker
Job Summary
JCCA is seeking a reliable and service-oriented Kitchen & Dining Services Assistant to support our food service and maintenance operations. In this role, you’ll help create a clean, safe, and welcoming dining experience for our clients and staff by maintaining high sanitation standards, assisting with food preparation, and supporting daily kitchen operations. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who takes pride in teamwork, organization, and serving others.
Schedule: Monday- Friday - 6AM-3PM
Essential Job Functions
Food Preparation & Service Support
- Assist the Chef with food preparation following approved food handling procedures
- Read and follow menus, recipes, and food safety labels accurately
- Rotate perishable items to ensure freshness and reduce waste
- Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries
- Set up dining areas for daily meals and special events
- Exhibit patience, courtesy, and professionalism when serving clients
Kitchen & Dining Area Maintenance
- Follow best practices for dishwashing and kitchen sanitation
- Clean dining room tables, counters, and kitchen surfaces thoroughly
- Wash and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, dishware, bakeware, and equipment
- Remove trash from kitchen and dining areas promptly
- Adhere strictly to NY State Department of Health sanitation guidelines and JCCA policies
- Report to work well-groomed and in compliance with Department of Health standards
Inventory & Operations Support
- Restock food supplies, cookware, tableware, and containers in designated areas
- Manage inventory for Kitchen and Clothing Room supplies
- Communicate proactively with supervisors when key items are running low
- Assist with meal setup and delivery to cottages using an agency vehicle
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
- Ability to drive a non-CDL motor vehicle
- Ability to follow safety guidelines, instructions, and established procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Culinary certification or formal culinary training
Hourly Rate: $18 -$19 per hour
