Engineering Intern

The Engineering Intern assists the Engineering Department with a variety of technical and administrative tasks that support engineering projects and daily departmental operations. Under the supervision of professional engineering staff, the intern will gain practical experience in municipal engineering, including field inspections, data management, document control, and project support. This position provides valuable hands-on exposure to engineering processes, construction documentation, and public works operations. <ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Assist project engineers with various tasks including fieldwork, site visits, and project inspections.</li><li>Support engineering staff with data entry, recordkeeping, and maintenance of project documentation.</li><li>Assist with document management projects, including file review, scanning, indexing, and organization of engineering records.</li><li>Help maintain and update engineering files, plans, reports, and related documents.</li><li>Conduct basic research and compile information related to engineering projects.</li><li>Provide general administrative support to the Engineering Department as needed.</li><li>Assist with the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and other project-related materials.</li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li></ul><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Basic knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction practices.</li><li>Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills.</li><li>Effective written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).</li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.</li></ul><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited engineering program (Civil Engineering or related field preferred).</li><li>Basic understanding of engineering and construction concepts.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.</li><li>Ability to work in both office and field environments.</li></ul>
