Who We Are Have you ever wondered what happens to cats and dogs whose owners are unable to afford veterinary care? We have. The ASPCA’s Community Medicine (CM) team provides affordable, accessible veterinary care with the goal of raising the overall welfare of pets in the community. Our services are offered in focus areas in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami that experience persistent poverty or have demonstrated barriers to accessing care. We provide expert care through a combination of mobile and stationary clinics and Community Veterinary Clinics with a focus on spay/neuter and primary care services. CM treats people and pets with dignity and respect, assisting pet owners in making informed decisions about their pets’ health and wellbeing regardless of their financial circumstances. To further increase access to care, CM trains externs, interns, fellows and residents and conducts research to provide evidence that more affordable treatments are effective.
