Advanced RN - Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) - PRN
The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) delivers compassionate, trauma-informed, and timely care to individuals affected by violence, whether intentional or accidental.
Essential Responsibilities: Perform nursing duties within the scope defined by licensing boards, demonstrating expertise in patient care from newborns to geriatrics. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive care plans tailored to patient needs. Ensure quality assurance by maintaining chain of evidence, accurate documentation, referrals, and compliance with mandatory reporting. Educate patients and families on the physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects of examinations and treatments. Prepare documentation, testimony, and case facts for legal proceedings as needed. Maintain timely and precise records in accordance with organizational policies. Fulfill scheduling requirements including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties. Uphold privacy and security regulations related to Protected Health Information (PHI). Foster professional communication and relationships with patients, healthcare teams, and external agencies.
Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Completion of a 64-hour course or two 40-hour IAFN SANE training courses within six months of hire.
Experience: Minimum of one year acute care experience.
Licenses and Certifications: Current BLS/CPR certification within 30 days of hire or by orientation end. ACLS and PALS certifications within six months of hire. Registered Nurse credential from a compact state or relevant nursing board.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). SANE-A and SANE-P certifications.
Skills and Abilities: Basic computer proficiency, strong multitasking and prioritization, effective communication across diverse populations, calmness under pressure, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Physical Requirements: Medium work involving occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and frequent standing or walking (26-50% of the day).
