Position Summary:
The Administrative Operations Specialist provides administrative
support to Student Judicial Programs at Rice University. Student
Judicial Programs articulates and enforces the expectations of Rice
University—expectations that represent our shared values as a
community. This role will be responsible for a variety of
administrative and financial matters related to the office's
operations and will serve as a frontline contact for students,
campus partners, and external entities. As an integral member of
the team, the specialist assists with the day-to-day functions of
the department, with a special emphasis on empathetic interactions
with students experiencing conduct-related issues.

Workplace Requirements:
This position is full-time, requiring all duties to be performed in
person at Rice University, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM in Lovett
Hall. This position requires the ability to climb three flights of
stairs to access the office. Per Rice policy 440 , work
arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range: $45,000–$47,500 annually, contingent upon
qualifications and experience
*Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA
are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- In lieu of the education requirement, additional related
experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent
year-for-year basis may be substituted

- 1+ years of experience in an office administrative
setting

- Excellent organizational skills

- Relevant subject matter knowledge
- More than two years of administrative office experience
- Experience working in a higher education or counseling/social
work environment
- Experience with Maxient, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive
systems
- Implements, administers, and evaluates the day-to-day business
and administrative activities of Student Judicial Programs
- Participates as a member of the conduct office team, including
interacting with students and other offices (internal and
external), addressing office matters, and assisting students with
questions and issues relating to policies, practices, and rules—all
with the utmost professionalism
- Maintains student records in accordance with applicable laws
and office practices
- Manages the department's email and phone communications
- Oversees and processes financial transactions; produces,
monitors, and reconciles budget statements; researches, identifies,
and resolves discrepancies
- Provides input on the budget, budget planning, and other
financial matters
- Maintains organization of office space, including purchasing
and tracking inventory of supplies and equipment
- Updates and maintains the Student Judicial Programs
website
- Organizes, manages, and completes special projects
- Collects and analyzes data; creates reports; reviews and
explains trends; formulates and evaluates alternative solutions and
recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or
function
- Analyzes and interprets policies; develops, revises, and
implements procedures
- Assists in developing and implementing training for student
leaders and organizations, with oversight by the Director
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Performs human resources transactional support by assisting
with training logistics, onboarding, and ordering for workstation
needs
